EV’s are really iPhones on wheels. How often does your iPhone need servicing, just updates. Only maintenance on my Teslas are only tires. Most repairs if needed plug and play parts. Most work without a car lift as battery is only thing under car.

Power company owns more grid battery storage to use solar and wind at night. Plus they store excess power generation vs just dumping it in the past which was wasteful.

USA more reactive vs proactive. Always complaining about intermittent high gas prices and never doing anything about it. They buy a gas guzzler suv when gas cheap and a small car when expensive gas. Europe has been paying way higher prices for decades but they drive small cars, more motorcycles, and scooters. No drive through McDonald’s or Starbucks in Europe as gas too expensive. Yet even at $5/gallon usa gas people in Starbucks drive through for 15 minutes running their car. Yet the complain high gas prices

I can not control healthcare costs but can control energy costs. I save $600/year on gas and home electricity because of my solar panels, powerwall battery and EV. The biggest hurdle renewable vs fossil fuel is the upfront cost with renewables. A solar system is expensive as all upfront but it is like an investment for the future paying you off like stock market. Many Companies and people prefer pay as you go not really owning anything just a minimum involvement. It’s like comparing an investor mentality vs a non investor mentality.

Amazing how Musk was so proactive starting EV/battery storage revolution when low gas/electric rates and no tax incentives. Most countries are reactive vs proactive. USA just dabbling in renewables since 1970 oil embargo. 2010’s Opec flooded chesp oil frackers/shale people to bankrupt them. Germany shut down nuclear power plants after Fukushima before renewables prime time going back to cheap oil. Until oil, a finite commodity, becomes too expensive we are still moving slowly to renewables

Who wants to buy old tech gas cars. I own 3 Teslas and charge at home with solar/powerwall. No petrochemical odors, no oil filters in land fills every 5000 miles. All gas car exhaust leak into the passenger compartment even new cars.

Long time coming. Based on the battery advancements I have read about I do believe, like you, that adoption to EVs is going to be much faster than predicted. I also see the Hydrogen Industry coming up too, so hopefully we'll have a combination of both.

I could see it happening but we need to see double the range out of these cars and half the price. There's just no comparison between price per mile gas car and electric car. Electric cars are so big and expensive The tires are expensive. That's not even factoring in depreciation. No one can work on these things. Which means you have to pay whatever they charge. I understand there's much less complexity to an electric car which should in turn make them more reliable than their gas counterparts. I had a Tesla model why I performance for about 6 months sold it. It cost me $50 a month just to keep the thing plugged up barely using it. Range is about 200 miles on the highway and a hundred miles towing a trailer. Aside from that normal day-to-day travel it is pretty awesome. But $2,000 for a set of tires once a year or once every two years compared to every two or three years at $600 for a similar economy car. Everything is expensive on electric cars right $1,500 windshield. I think it will take far longer for full adoption to happen. there needs to be significant competition in mechanics and body shops that work on them before the prices come down for serviceability and affordability. The car's way a thousand pounds more than their gas counterparts. It doesn't seem like a big deal but I swear these things ride like 3/4 tron trucks in bumpy corners. The acceleration is insane. But once you get used to that feeling after doing it a couple hundred times. Doesn't really have a lot going for it. These cars need constant heating and cooling of the battery which means you basically have a heat pump that runs 24 hours a day in these cars. Who's going to service that change that out in a Tesla it's about $5,000 to swap out the heat pump. I'm guessing most of those will need to be done every 5 or 6 years if you're using the car a lot. Until battery technology tops out to a point where you'll pretty much never need a new battery I could see resale value always getting hammered on electric cars because the newest best thing will make you feel like what's the point of owning the old one. I think at this point the plug-in hybrid is the best option. But the extra complexity is an issue. I think only Toyota or Lexus is at a high enough reliability standard to make it work.
